Digital Platforms Development Center held a meeting with the representatives of the European Commission and the customs attaches of the EU countries on political issues in Russia, CIS and Ukraine. The meeting was attended by Sergey Kiselev, Chief Technology Officer, Digital Platforms Development Center (CRCP) LLC, and Artem Popov, Director of the Project Management Department, Digital Platforms Development Center (CRCP) LLC.
The representatives of Digital Platforms Development Center told of the opportunities of the System for Tracking Goods Transportation, which was implemented in Russia in March 2020, and application of electronic navigation seals for sanctioned cargoes in transit. “The System for Tracking Goods Transportation allows foreign carriers to use the most advantageous route, in terms of time and costs, from EU countries to China. The Russian transport corridors allow to deliver cargoes 2–3 times quicker than by a traditional sea route. An overland route through Russia's territory may save up to 30% of the transportation costs, as compared to by-pass overland routes, due to a significant reduction of a delivery period,” said Sergey Kiselev. He stressed that digitalization of the transportation process allows to automate administrative procedure, optimize logistic and production processes, and exclude additional inspections.
The meeting participants discussed development of the Goods Transportation System such as prospects of cargo sealing within the European Union. In case of mutual agreement on approaches to transportation tracking, data will be provided to regulatory and supervisory agencies of an EU country where transportation takes place, and a simplified transit registration will be provided based on that information when crossing a border between the EU and the EEU. The meeting participants agreed on joint development of the cargo transportation sector and its digitalization. In the future, these measures will allow to open a “green corridor” Europe – China thus reducing time and financial costs when transporting cargoes through Russia.
